I have done a number of speaker measurements and seem to have a good grasp of what is needed to properly tune a system. However I have come across a measurement that is out of my league.

I am trying to look at the response of a crossover system. I would like to see where the crossover points are and if the filters are first order or second order and so on. I honestly do not know how to connect the crossover to my TEF25. I have tried a few setups but no mater if I test the HP filter or the LP filter I get the same results.

This has also brought up another question. Is there a way to test the TEF. I am confident that there must be a way to check if the TEF is coloring the signal. Could someone post a procedure for testing the TEF.

Thank you in advance for any assistance that can be provided to me.

So I was able to get some assistance from an off forum source.  I am still working on testing the crossover, but for testing the TEF there are 2 techniques.

The first being that there is a feedback loop internal to the TEF. On the TEF25 there is an input selection of "INT". This will internally link the input to the output.

The second technique is to connect a mic cable directly from the input to the output. I like this way a little better because it tests every aspect of the TEF's signal path.

I tested my TEF using both techniques and actually got slightly better results using the mic cable. I was also given the hint of using longer sweep times to smooth out the results. I found that a sweep time of 120 seconds gave nice smooth results.

My TEF is measuring +/- 0.3 dB from 30 Hz to 20000 Hz with a 1 dB drop from 30 Hz to 20 Hz. This is within tolerance of the specifications for the TEF25.

If any one knows of another better way of testing the TEF please chime in. Now on to that crossover.
