It is not clear to me how to measure a loudspeaker's (or whatever) impedance with the TEF 25. I have a  resistor dongle for our TEF 20. Is there some similar accessory for the TEF 25? Does the balanced i/o of the 25 change the hookup or procedure? I'd like to do small signal and high power impedance tests.

Thanks in advance.

Henry,

I have an article on my web site that may be of help, particularly with the higher drive level measurements.  It can be found at http://www.excelsior-audio.com/Publications/Publications-Fr.html, click on TEF Impedance Measurements.

In addition to the current monitor I mention in the article a Linear X VI box might also work.

I had a look at the prices for the model 411 (which seems to have a wider bandwidth that the 410) and it was VERY expensive ($495).

Do you have any other recommendations for current probes that are more affordable?

Yes, unfortunately it's not cheap.  That's why I currently (no pun intended) don't have one.  I haven't used any others so at this point I can't make an alternate recommendation.  I am hopeful of looking into this in the near (I hope) future to find a lower cost alternative.  When I do I will update the PDF & notify the group.

If anyone else has some ideas I'm all ears.

  Hi Lars;

 I bought SLX with my TEF 25 and it came with a cable assembly for low level impedance.

  I also bought a Pearson #411 current monitor. I have yet to work with it. I was wondering if you have something running yet for high level impedance measurement with your 25?

 I am a full year behind you, so help would be greatly appreciated.

  Thank you,
                 Barry.
